Traded a 2210 for the 4115. Very disappointed. 46 backhoe lt cylinder leaks all the way down after 2 mins w/engine running. Boom very jerky and will pulsate down occasionally with no lever inputs. Put 3 cinder blocks in the bucket and lost power steering while stationary. Hyd Dump Pack brackets installed backwards, busted 2 arms (Manual shows the brackets to be installed backwards. Turned brackets around and everything works fine). The JD dealer tells me everything is okay. (They don't have the manual for the 46 hoe yet. So they were using the specs from a 47 hoe) ALso, you need to remove MMM, mower lift arms and 3 pt arms to install backhoe. Very tedious and time consuming. Local JD rep is supposed to visit, but he is slow to respond to the dealer's requests. JD support is terrible.

It sounds like your dealer did an extremely poor job prepping your machine and another poor job demonstrating how things work on delivery. ....

The 46 hoe has nothing to do with the 47 model.

Maybe I could post the relevant parts of the manual for you...

It will leak down, but not like that.... you have air in the system, or they didn't top off the sump and it is drawing air.

Let me know what I can do to help.

I love my Tractor and YES! I am also having problems with the 46 BH main Cylinder leaking down, way too fast. 1inch per minute with 130 degree hydralic temp is suppose to be normal. B.S. I am raising Hell right now and was told it was valve that was changed to a different Manufacturer 5 years ago. My bucket, empty hits the ground before I can move to otherside of hole. It has a totally seperate pump for steering versus implements.
The 4115 other wise is a Super Tractor. ....

Hawk,

That cylinder should not leak that fast. Mine will leak over night (with the engine off) but not quite enough to reach the floor.

I did experience the pulsating effect also when a root broke and the backhoe jerked. I thought it was quite funny! Anyways, the 46 is a lot less jerky if you set the RPM between 1500 and 2000. Also you have to "feather" the controls. If you push those levers all the way with only one cylinder moving it will move(jerk) very fast. If you are activating two cylinder at the same time, then you can push the levers all the way and it will be smooth. Three cylinders at the same time is almost not possible, not enough flow from the hydraulics I guess.

Well so far I love my 46! 25 stumps later and many saplings, my back is happy!

Forgot this,

I went to the shed to get my manual. The operator's manual has this title

"Backhoe for Compact Utility Tractor 46, 47, 48"

So I guess it's the same manual. The assembly instructions are all in there. That's what my Deere dealer used to set it up. It has a different section to install the 46 and the 47,48.

If you didn't get yours, I could scan it and send you a PDF file.
